Share of Voice
Share of Voice (SoV) is your share of total brand mentions in AI answers across a topic — how often you're named, relative to the competitors named alongside you.
If you're mentioned in 30% of answers and your three competitors split the rest, SoV shows whether you're winning or losing the answer.
Example. If a brand is named in 50 of 100 responses and there are 500 total brand mentions across everyone, that brand's Share of Voice is 50 / 500 = 10%.
A few practical notes:
- SoV depends on your competitor list. The brands you declare on the project become the "vs" reference — pick 3–5 brands that actually appear in the same answers, not aspirational giants. See Add competitors.
- It's measured per topic and per model, so the picture differs across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, etc. — that's expected and useful (it tells you where to focus).
- SoV is a relative metric — it can rise even when your Visibility falls, if a competitor drops faster than you. Read both numbers together.
